Talented and rising artist “Kama” was born in Vallejo California. P.J. Mazza (his birth name) came up with the stage name of “Kama” based upon his mixed heritage, the first son of an English/Italian father and Japanese mother, Kama was influenced immensely by both his parents at a early age. P.J., nickname known by all his friends, became very familiar with the music industry as he travelled around the U.S. with his father as he worked. Paul John Mazza Sr. was the transportation captain for the renowned concert promoter Alan Hayman Entertainment and he took Paul Jr. along with him to every concert event. From an early age, Kama’s musical influences by talented artists such as Grandmaster Flash, Debbie Deb, Cameo, Gap Band, Dazz Band, Ice Cube, Janet Jackson, and Patti Labelle, helped to shape the style of music and lyrics performed by Kama.
Much of the focus to his work is a result of years of discipline and dedication. Kama’s training in martial arts as a child helped to provide the structure and drive for his career, while playing the bass guitar in high school helped to develop his musical acuity, and practicing the sport of basketball throughout his life helped to develop the coordination and teamwork necessary in the industry. Currently, Kama is working on the singles “Never Give Up” (a rendition of the classic “Hotel California” with added pop and hip-hop flair) and “Fly Like I” featuring Mistah FAB. Kama is also in negotiations with promoters in China, Japan, and Europe to open the market in those regions to a new genre of music.
During his off time, when he is not in the studio, performing live, or working on new lyrics, Kama spends his leisurely period writing his thoughts and impressions on paper. When he really wants to let loose some energy, you can probably find him at a local track drifting popular street cars or shifting through the gears on a twisty chicane.
Every Artist, you can never listen to enough music
