Khalil knew at an early age his goal was to sing. As a child Khalil would sing for everyone it was plain to see that he loved doing it. It was also plain to see that he had been blessed with a beautiful voice. In his early teen years Khalil began getting training from some of the best vocal teachers around and began developing his voice and his style. Because of the rich tone of his voice, vast range and his ability to bring heart wrenching emotion to every melody he sings Khalil has been compared to everyone from Teddy Pendergrass to Brian Mcknight. Since moving to New York, has appeared and won amateur night on the television show Showtime at the Apollo. As well as opening for R&B singers Jessie Powell and Tony Terry. Khalil has already been praised by some of the most prominent personalities in the business. I just love your voice, and could listen to you sing all night Valerie Simpson (Ashford & Simpson). Khalil has an incredible tone, and just seems to have his own style, he sounds great Nick Ashford (Ashford & Simpson) Khalil just needs to keep singing, it is only a matter of time before everybody knows who he is "Freddy Jackson."
Band/artist history
There is something about Khalil's performance that makes him stand out from every other musical artist pursuing a career in the business. Khalil's obvious passion for entertaining, combined with his urban soul style and limitless talent, make him one of the most promising R&B performers today. In 1991 he was asked to perform at the Black Expo in Houston, TX, for the former Governor of Texas, Ann Richards, his performance was so well received that he was also asked to perform that same year at the Black Expo held in New Orleans, LA, and was subsequently invited to perform at the incoming Freshman Program for Xavier Prep in New Orleans, LA. Khalil has opened for such performers as Tony Terry, Jesse Powell, Moknestef, Another Bad Creation, The Mac Band and Damian Dame. He won Best Male Vocalist in 1996 at the Sammy Davis, Jr. Awards held in Houston, TX and also won a New Line Cinema Talent Show for the promotion of the movie, The Wedding Singer, featuring Adam Sandler. In 2000, he won twice performing at the famed Apollo Theater competitions held in New York City. In addition to continually seeking to perfect his craft Khalils professional goals are to pursue producing and composing. On a personal level, he aspires to continue the tradition of the great vocalists he admires and hopes one day someone will be able to say the same about him having been their inspiration to succeed in the music industry
