Kawika Heftel
Solace is the title song of my first album. It's first song I wrote that had deeply personal meaning. It helped me get through the pain of my parent's divorce and reaffirms that there is hope in life, even when all seems bleak.
This song describes what it feels like to be awake at 4:45 A.M. I'm not sure whether it describes staying up til 4:45 or getting up at 4:45, but either way it's a slightly delirious time to be awake.
This is the first song I wrote. It has the feel of looking at the world with innocent, unbiased eyes.
A happy, enthusiastic song with a Chopin-style title that has no bearing on the song's style. It brings to mind a carefree day with friends, the exhilaration of doing something you love, and the joy of having a day off.
I see a summer thunderstorm where you get caught out in the rain, followed by going inside and enjoying watch nature's fury beat on the windows while you're dry inside.
This is a Romantic-style waltz, similar to ones written by Chopin.
