Space Adventure: Steve's Quest Space Adventure: Steve's Quest
I wanted to make a song that sounded like something out of an NES video game, and I think I succeeded. This is a song from a late 80's/early 90's NES video game starring me, in space or something. (note the generic video game title)
Kirby vs. King DeDeDe Kirby vs. King DeDeDe
Not as well known as the other video game songs I've covered so far, but this is one of my favorites. I got 'Kirby's Dreamland' for the Game Boy when I was 8, and 14 years later when thinking of video game music to cover I vaguely remembered this
Metroid-Brinstar Metroid-Brinstar
Another old video game song. This one is the Brinstar level/area from Metroid for the NES. Almost all music from NES games had harmonizing dual leads, and this is a perfect example of this.
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts-Level 1 Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts-Level 1
I think one of the best pieces of music in video game history is music from the first level (the Haunted Graveyard) of the Super Nintendo game Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts.
O Canada O Canada
What's there to say? It's the Canadian national anthem! Why? Because, well...why not? And if you're thinking 'I didn't know Steve was Canadian,' you're right, I'm not Canadian. But do you really need a reason to cover the Canadian national an
El Cacahuete Violento que Baila con el Diablo El Cacahuete Violento que Baila con el Diablo
Umm, I guess it can best be described as a disco + the band Ministry + wtf
Turnjim Island Turnjim Island
Different from my other stuff. It's slow and mellow and has a guitar solo that's pretty basic (but I love how this solo turned out. Overall, I think this is one of my best songs.
DSTS DSTS
Slow and mellow, then slow and heavy. Not much I can think of to describe this song, but I really like how it came out.
Bicycle Built for Tumors Bicycle Built for Tumors
Definitely the heaviest song I have ever done. And I did it without any guitar. Just really, really heavily distorted bass, drums, and my usual weird synths. Weird time signature too.
Scott the Badger Scott the Badger
After finishing this song, it hit me: it's about a badger named Scott who rounds up an army of badgers and tries to take over the world.
Dancebot Dancebot
Another song I almost finished a few months ago, then just recently finalized it. Apparently I have a habit of putting the word 'dance' in my more danceable songs' titles. Really catchy. It keeps speeding up until it...exploses (or implodes?).
Countrytime Extravaganza Countrytime Extravaganza
I did this song awhile ago, definitely the oldest of what's here. Another simple yet odd one.
Appalachian Jerky Appalachian Jerky
I honestly don't know where this idea came from. It's got banjo, piano, upright bass, and violin (none of it real, unfortunately-all from my computer). And it's time signature is 7/4. Repetetive, but still pretty interesting/odd.
Price to Pay for the Prize Toupee Price to Pay for the Prize Toupee
Heavy guitar riffs, unrelentingly pounding bass, and flat out crazy synthesizer sounds. There's some (originally) unwanted peak distortion, but now I don't want to fix it, I can't part with it.
The Unexpected Dance Song The Unexpected Dance Song
I wrote this about a year ago, and finally got around to finish mixing it recently. Out of all my songs I've done (KI! and otherwise), this is definitely my favorite.
