July's Afterglow

July's Afterglow is a fibercore band (you can call us melodic post-metalcore with emo influences if that feels better) from Montebello, California. Members are (in reverse alphabetical order) Jaime Ramirez (Drums and strobe light), Xavier "Ha-vee-air" Delgado (Vocals and Guitar), Aaron Delgado (Guitar and Vocals), and Xavier "X-avier" Alatorre (Bass and odd poses)
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Originating in June of 2002, July's Afterglow was the product of Xavier Delgado and ex-member Lonnie. The two discovered that they both wanted to start the same type of band, so they talked and agreed on a line-up: Lonnie and Xavier on Guitar, Xavier A. on bass and former member Pete on drums. Although this version's sound was much poppier and nowhere near the caliber of today's band, it was still July's Afterglow. After a summer of hard work and constant practices, Pete decided it wasn't for him. He left the band with Lonnie following that same day, since the two are good friends. Both members left on good terms, but still left a large hole--half the band was gone. Xavier D's brother, Aaron, who occasionally filled in on bass during that summer, was asked to play guitar, filling one spot. July's Afterglow may as well be movie metal band “Spinal Tap”. After Pete left, numerous drummers were considered. After being on the verge of giving up in early 2003, Jaime Ramirez was asked to play for us. Jaime was introduced to the band through Xavier D's girlfriend. Unbeknownst to both Jaime and Xavier at the time (but knownst now), they knew each other from Boy Scouts in elementary school. Maybe it was this old friendship, ...maybe it was just luck, ...whatever the case, a perfect match was found in Jaime, both talent-wise and with personality. Although there are frequent rests in between activity in the band, there is still a good feeling in all four of us. We genuinely enjoy playing as a band and will keep on playing as long as people will let us.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We love playing live, any time we can. We'll play anything from a birthday party or a bar mitzvah to a real club show, even if no one's there.
Your musical influences
Ummm...everyone. We sound like the bastard child of these bands: From Autumn to Ashes, Thrice, Alkaline Trio, and theBLED.
What equipment do you use?
Epiphone guitars (G-400 SG and Les Paul Studio), Marshall/Crate guitar amps, Peavey Milestone II bass, Rogue bass amp (for now, we're in the process of replacing it), Premier drums, Target-brand microphones
Anything else?
3/4 of the band is addicted to Wienerschnitzel.
