Juliet formed in February of 2003. You could put them in the genre of melodic hardcore, with singalongs and breakdowns. You can expect anything from this band. Powerful vocals and driving guitars, metal drumming and strong bass.Band/artist history
Juliet started making music in February of 2003. The members have been a part of a wide range of bands before coming together to work on Juliet. Marshall Smith (vocals) appeared as lead guitar and vocals for his previous groups Red Mercury and Relapse in Waiting. These bands led a melodic path through heavy, alternative rock music. Greg Poirier (guitar) played in past groups with James Delaney (guitar), including Tomorrows Romance and Juvent. And if you have heard these bands, you know that they demand an intense mosh. Nick Angelo played in Scathing Onset with friends from his home town through high-school. Scathing Onset delivered an alternative rock sound as well, with some metal influences. Sylvain Delaney jammed with the CB Revival, a jam band from his home town. They came to know each other through the bands that they were in before Juliet. Greg and James befriended Nick at old Tomorrow’s Romance and Juvent practices in the Newburyport area. When these bands took the turn for the worst, Greg and James recruited Nick as the drummer for the new band which would create a different style from the previous bands. The band was in need of a bassist, and James’ brother Sylvain came to try out and was allowed to play bass for Juliet. They had a singer from the start, but he soon moved on, and Juliet was in need of a talent to fulfill the band and bring it together. Nick returned to school in the fall of 2003, and became friends with Marshall Smith. They shared the same dormitory and enjoyed listening to the same genre of music. Marshall visited a Juliet practice, tried out and he fit perfectly in the mix. The band picked a routine practice schedule and the sound, style and performance just flowed from the members and the band created an intense connection with the music and each other. With drumming influences of As I Lay Dying, Every Time I Die, and Saosin, it is safe to say that the beat is held. Driving guitars which fill the sound with creative rhythm and intricate lead help to promote the style. Jazz style bass keeps the song progressing, and phenomenal vocals capture the image and explain what Juliet is in melodic and emotion full lyrics.Have you performed in front of an audience? We play live all the time.
