J Smilez a.k.a The Street ProphetBand/artist history
First breath taken on 3-2-88 in Jersey City New Jersey.Childhood was pretty much normal you know, cartoons, hide and go seek, the usual. Loved Hip-Hop since age six when i saw the Kriss-Kross "Jump" video. i used to jump to that song all the time, even started dressing like them with the jumpers, and the braids used to dance to kid-n-play then had the flat top lol.My inspiration to the Hip-Hop scene was when 2-pac put out "Brenda's Got A Baby".That song touched me in a way because Pac made his career blow up off a conscience record, that was really unique. Started listening to alot of 2pac at age 12 and that's when i started writing poetry because 2-pac before an MC was a poet,a very influiential poet.
I started writing music like crazy, i just loved the feeling of Hip-Hop music, it was all i had to call my own. I not only started writing music, i made it an art, an art of which i need to master in order to be known as one of the greatest of all time. My ear for music is like no other, i can hear a beat once and have a song concept in my head from the type of lyrics and melodies to use.Song writing may be my fortae but i am equipped with two of the other forms of MC'in. I can freestyle off the dome on the spot, and battle rap on the spot.
I reorded my first official tracks at my dude Kourtney's studio in the Valley in Belleville. I was featured on my cousin's S.N.I's record "The Plot". Then i bumped into my dude Tony AKA T-mack at Belleville High my freshman year. This kid is one of the reasons i use a lot of punchlines and metaphores in my rhymes now thanks to him,Biggie, and Big L the illest lyricest of all time. Then T mack introduced me to Stret Skolla and when i say this kid has one of the best ears for music i mean it. This kid's song concepts were crazy lol the way he put songs together. Guess you can say me and him think alike at times when it comes to music. We both share the love and passion for Hip-Hop. Then i met Chris AKA tha Vp which started the begining of Hood-Gang. As a group we recorded over 120 songs and counting, we are like no other groups out there. Our sound is far much diffrent than any other group out there, you cant, and never will compare us to groups like D-Block, G-Unit, Junior Mafia etc. We are unique as a group and individuals.
Now that you know how i started you can now look at me as an MC from a diffrent perspective.Heres some knowledge/words of wisdom that you should consider. "He who makes his own destiny is a real man//He who dont is a man without a plan".Enjoy the music and Long Live Life.God Bless.Your musical influences
