J-Ryde
J-Ryde works at, and owns Lost Records, Red Deer. He works hands on with a fair amount of my city's rappers, and a few BC, and Saskatchewan emcee's as well, and one rapper from the United Kingdom.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Started by listening to Cypress Hill, and N.W.A., was never into MC Hammer, or Vanilla Ice, so guess I'm a late bloomer, but when I first heard Cypress Hill, I was hooked like a dope fiend. Always sang along when no one was around, eventually started writng poems, and freestyling came shorty after. Got into beatboxing around the time I started freestyling, and eventually, started making beats. Always played around with guitars, so, it was'nt too challenging to make beats.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Performed live a few times before, nothing can compare to performing for a hyped crowd, in my opinion.
Your musical influences
The Devil
What equipment do you use?
And how much money are the sponcers paying me? Obviously not enough to mention their companies... Wait a minute,.. I don't even have sponcers,... or need any for that matter. I use software; sequencers, waveform editors, multitrack recorders, and hardware; sequencer and multitrack recorder/mixers, all kinds of musical instruments; drum kit, guitars, MIDI keyboard, turntables, harmonica, ect. Just play everything.
Anything else?
Shout outs to Red Deer, I'll post links and show love for the emcee's, I love you guys!
