Born and raised in the heart of Indianapolis, Joyce Licorish has been singing and writing songs since the tender age of 12. Winning a multitude of talent competitions as well as awards for her vocal and personal achievements, she has managed to amaze and bedazzle audiences everywhere. During the past few years she has appeared at several local (Indianapolis), and national venues. To mention a few, she has appeared as a guest artist at Broad Ripple's Aristocrat Pub. She has also appeared solo as well as with the True Vision Show Band and the Madame C.J. Walker Theatre in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. She also has appeared in several opera performances, to name a few, the critically acclaimed Indianapolis Opera's performance of Porgy and Bess in 2000, the Denyce Graves Gala Benefit 2001, and Aida 2001, all at Indianapolis's famous Clowes Memorial Hall theatre at Butler University. She has also been a participant in two guest talent competitions for Carnival Cruise lines on the Carnival Victory and the Carnival Imagination where she received rave reviews. In the past she toured locally with the True Vision Show Band of which she was a member for over three years at places such as, Quincy's At the Adams Mark Hotel (Airport), Sherry's Lounge, The Point, The Slippery Noodle, The Jazz Kitchen, Act IV, The Grand, and several other local venues.
Recently Joyce Completed a short tour in New York City where she received rave reviews from onlookers from Chinatown to the Village and other venues in the very heart of NYC.
In years past Joyce has also appeared with an all female trio called "Swavacious" at the Indianapolis Fairgrounds and was the opening act to the famous rapper Too Short in his "Cocktails" tour of '95.
Joyce Licorish has also been utilized as a voiceover spokesperson for several commercials for WTLC FM, as well as been featured on several privately contracted commercial jingles such as the one for the Gallery Furniture Company. Not to mention the numerous other nightspots, private events locally and nationally that have featured Licorish as a solo artist. For example, high profile events such as the Indianapolis Urban League's Business Card Exchange in the Fall of 2001, and the Year 2000, 100 Black Women's Coalition Benefit held at the Madame C.J. Walker Theater for needy children where she sang the inspirational songs "Wind Beneath My Wings" and "Greatest Love of All".
Joyce has also appeared with local artists and celebrities such as Art Cantrell (Keyboardist), Greg Sansing (Flute), Greg Bacon (Saxophonist), Byron Johnson, (Pianist), Rick Jones, (Guitar), Oscar Larkins (Basist), Jeff Randolph (Drummer), national comedian as seen on BET's Comic View, "Mississippi Mudcat", and many more.
Her vocal talent ranges from R&B, to Blues, Jazz and even Opera with her forte being in the R&B industry. With amazing vocal versatility, a vast performance history in too many venues to mention and a range from firsts soprano to second alto, insurmountable talent, with a strong urban, yet sultry sound she is ready for the world and promises to be "Nap town's Finest Female Vocalist." I welcome you to open your eyes and heart up to real entertainment, Licorish style!

Joyce has currently not completed a formal release of her music. However, a vocal demo CD is available upon request via her website at www.joycelicorish.com, and a formal relese is on her agenda for 2004 or early 2005.
