Joseph Washbourn was the lead singer and songwriter with rock band Toploader. During his time in the band they had five top twenty hits, including the critically acclaimed Achilles Heel and pop smash Dancing in the Moonlight. They sold nearly two million records, had many sell out tours and performed with some of the biggest names in music aswell as being nominated for four brit awards for their debut album Onkas Big Moka.
After the band came to an end in early 2003 Joseph decided to take a much-needed break from the near constant touring and recording of the previous five years.
During the summer of that year he moved to LA to begin working on new material. After finding himself in Topanga Canyon, home to many of his musical heroes, such as Neil Young and Dave Crosby, he enjoyed writing without the pressure and constraints of being in a chart friendly band. In this time Joseph worked on many projects, including writing, recording and producing the track The Goldrush for the movie Skeleton Key and collaborating with members of Proud Mary and Beechwood Sparks. He also worked again with Dancing In The Moonlight hit producer George Drakoulias and tried out new material in live shows on LAs club circuit.
Since returning to London at the beginning of this year, Joseph has continued to write, record and is about to embark upon his first UK live shows, since Toploader disbanded, to showcase some of his new songs as a solo artist.
