john p lyons

john p lyons is a practicing non-musician,of moderate talent, stranded in exile,in the great lakes region of america.here,he sits, nervously twiddling the knobs and switches arrayed before him.anxiously awaiting the moment when the world finally notices.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
well,i was born at a very early age,and records from that era are spotty,at best.but,if memory serves me correctly,i became....musically active in my early teens.never really made any serious progress, till my father passed,i got sober, and quit smoking.pseudo-musical,psycho-therapy,some might call it.the need to capture certain thoughts and musings, became apparent, after spending time in the studio with real musicians(helping to engineer and record their visions)everything that arose, after that,is fair game and thoroughly usable material(done purely for my own amusment)
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
play, live???hardly.occasionally i might play, with friends, for sporadic amusement.
Your musical influences
my musical influences are an eclectic melange of things,both popular and obtuse.starting with my mothers songs(as a youth)and progressing through major influences,such as,warren heaven(zed salt),the entire may family(gene and all),frank zappa,dave gilmour,jeff beck,dr.demento,carl stalling,roy clark,schoolhouse rock,donald dowdy,brian wilson,syd barrett,the beatles,jimi hendrix,the monkees,the bannana splits,the mosquitoes,the honey bees,lancelot link,the archies,marilyn yohey,ragtime bill wagoner,steve sahagun,rick and todd hoffer,kiss,van halen,stanley jordan,leo kottke,chet atkins,mark russell,and soooooo many more than i could ever possibly type.
What equipment do you use?
equipment used,includes,but is not limited to:vox 12 string acoustic,fender musicmaster(rather modified),kay starter series electric 6-string(modified with a dimarzio super distortion humbucker and a kahler whammy bar),custom bass(originally a kay,i believe),custom fretless bass(courtesy of john p.lyons-luthier),wurlitzer,moog,casio,and yamaha keyboards,randall switchmaster full stack,various other instruments and effects,far too numerous to mention,yamaha mt120 four track recorder,dell dimension 4400,and other stuff i found,just laying around the house.
Anything else?
inspiration arrives in many forms, usually through the everyday activities and musings of truly disturbed minds.
