John Marshall Carter has performed in various bands and written original pop songs for many years. He currently resides in Conyers, Georgia, USA.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
John Marshall Carter has played in a number of pop/rock/folk bands for many years, among them The Wampus Cats, The Missing Links, Kaleiodoscope,and the Five Forks Folk Rock Ensemble.
In addition to songwriting, Carter is also a poet and historian. He has published many scholarly articles and books on the Middle Ages.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play live periodically either as a solo artist or with a band.
Your musical influences
My musical influences have been many and varied.
One of my biggest influences was the sixties invasion bands from England, especially The Beatles, The Kinks, and The Searchers.
What equipment do you use?
An old Vox twelve-string (my favorite); six-string electric Rickenbacker; Crate amps.
Anything else?
My nephew Kenneth Carter is also a songwriter and performer. He is a multi-instrumentalist who has added considerably to many of my recordings. My former band-mate Ron Martin has also contributed much to many of my recordings.
