John David Coupland
John is a worship leader from Scotland and has been a musician for most of his working life. The score so far is one wife, three kids, seven grandchildren and more guitars than he can remember.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
John started as a folk singer gigging in Scottish pubs but a year or so after getting converted the Lord closed that door. His guitar repair business took off and he now teaches music for a living. His first album 'Diamonds' was released by the Church of Scotland education dept in the late 70's. Although the C of Sc is best described as a broad church, John is a charismatic fundementalist. Lots of fun and slightly mental.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Sunday after Sunday but the Lord does not encourage me to play secular music gigs.
Your musical influences
Simon and Garfunkel, Cohen, Gordon Lightfoot and the Beatles.
What equipment do you use?
An Alhambra 7P, Yamaha MX-49 and an Alesis SR16
