the time for talking's through the time for talking's through
Instrumental with some guitar work included, but really it's a frustrated song. That's my sister Lesley with me in the picture, that is!
come and find me come and find me
Written early 2001 during my stay in hospital. Sung by Cathy Clarke. Unashamedly straightforward pop music as done by Herman's Hermits or HearSay!
diving in water diving in water
Cathy Clarke singing a song I wrote in hospital in 2001. That's not Cathy in the picture, that's my sister Lesley, she gets in everywhere! And we're very grateful that she does.
talk to me talk to me
Written 1981, this version sung by Cathy Clarke in 2000. Backing done using Acid Music.
world hold on world hold on
Started life as a Bob Dylan-type song, then became a "rap" whilst experimenting with a sequencer. Written 1994. This version recorded 1998.

I've been writing for over thirty years, I'm almost getting to the fruits of maturity! This music of mine is generally melodic and poppy.
In addition to this page, check out The Tweaky Twins. That's Marge McKinnis and myself demoing our songs. Then there's Mr Melody, me in my more ambient-jazz frame of mind. Rick Norton or "Rino" is in the pop section, he does some songs I've co-authored. Finally the upcoming DeShayna, with whom I co-write.Have you performed in front of an audience?I don't play live anymore since getting motor neurone disease. I was always more of a songwriter, anyway. Used to be in a rock group one time, and later on a folk dance band. Happy days!
Your musical influences
Lionel Richie, Stevie Winwood, Beatles, Michael MacDonald, Elgar. Too many people. See if after fifty-four years you can come up with a snappy answer to "What sort of music do you like?"What equipment do you use?
Band In A Box, Cakewalk, Acid Music, Yamaha QYs, guitar, anything legal considered.Anything else?
Too many people to thank for their support, but above everyone else my sister Lesley deserves a big hug!

Just a short message to say to everyone who was a friend of John's that I would like to be remembered on this message board as a friend who enjoyed his work and conviviality. Long may he be remembered!
Nice one John (Dark Hill).
Brought back happy memories of your mandolin playing at the "Holt" & "Bell".

John, the best things I like about you are:
1)Your beautiful music and how you enhance a lyric with it!
2)Your quick responses
3)Your humour
4)Your honesty
5)Your determination
6)and MOst of all, that you were "lurking" about and found this struggling songwriter who needed someone to put music to my words...!
