Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Huntsville, Alabamas J.O.E., is a hip hop artist
quickly climbing the ranks of the local talent and on the cusp of breaking out
onto the national scene. J.O.E. joins the trend of many other talented artists
that are eschewing labels and big recording studios and taking a die-hard DIY
approach to music production. J.O.E. writes, records, produces and engineers
all his own tracks, with some help occasionally from his cousin, 17 Hundred, a talented
producer in his own right.
The rewards of being a DIY musician are myriad; complete artistic control, no
deadlines, and no bosses. But being in control means that all the legwork must
be done as well, and J.O.E. has no reservations about getting his hands dirty.
J.O.E. is currently building a new website, BombSquadMuzik.com, that will serve
as a multi-media platform capable of delivering new tracks fresh from the
studio, music videos, social media updates, and live performances. The site will
also give J.O.E. a chance to curate new talent that may not be in a bright
enough spot light.
J.O.E.s heart lies with hip hop, but his drive and ambition point to him being an
as much a businessman as an artist. J.O.E. is seemingly now just looking for his
lucky break. There is an old saying that luck is just hard work meeting
opportunity. J.O.E.s music speaks for itself; but the hard work he puts into self-production
and self-promotion is laying the foundation or him to be a
successful artist and entrepreneur for many years to come. Lucky or not.
