Joe Garner

Solo Acoustic singer-songwriter from Atlanta, GA. I cover everything that catches my attention from Classic Rock to Top 40, and Indie Rock to Obscure 80's tunes! I perform with an Akai Headrush E2 looping pedal through which I run a Behringer Xenyx 502 mini mixer into the input, before outputting into the PA. This allows me to beatbox, add percussion, and play lead all with only my acoustic guitar & minimum amount of effects pedals. The result creates a much larger sound that encompasses the venue, giving me a more dynamic sound. The crowd really loves it (most of the time). Sometimes it's best just to scale it down with just me and my instrument.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Started playing open mics in 2007. Play a first 45 minute show @ Smith's Olde Bar in 2008. Continued writing, recording, and testing new songs for various audiences from 2009 to 2010. In November 2010, was offered a full 4-hour gig @ Johnnie MacCracken's, which led to multiple performances, and later headlining 2-night shows on Friday & Saturdays. Started working with Grassroots Artists booking agency, and began touring East Coast. Currently recording new music, and planning to get into studio for to record a new EP with full band!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I've been solely performing for a living since November 2010; and I'm currently playing in various places throughout Georgia, and the farthest I've performed is Evansville, Indiana. I love getting a chance to perform anywhere!
Your musical influences
I started out listening to Joe Cocker, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton & Cream records. in my parents basement. To this day I crave the whole 70's rock scene. Later on I started learning more of the history of rock & roll, which led me to blues greats such as Lead Belly, Robert Johnson, Lightnin' Hopkins, Slim Harpo, Muddy Waters, and BB King; and that inspired me to start singing regularly. Most of my first performances were Classic Rock & Blues covers! Today I listen to a wide selection of music from Country to Pop and I'm constantly challenging myself to broaden my musical style.
