A self-taught musician, joe first took up acoustic guitar in 1999. His songs, spare and reflective, have been gathered into a CD collection, This Wind Does Not Leave Anything. He has also posted some of his music videos at http://www.seedega.com/vidpage000.htm In addition to music and songwriting, Joe has been active in New York's Hudson Valley regional theatre scene for over a decade. Episodes of his original radio series The Specter were produced for Western Public Radio. Joe has worked with Pulitzer and Tony award winning playwright/screenwriters Frank D. Gilroy (The Subject Was Roses) and David Rabe (Hurlyburly, The Firm, Streamers). He directed a production of Mr. Rabe's unpublished play Cosmologies at the Julien J. Studley Theatre in New Paltz, NY. More recently, Joe's interest in the guitar and music theory led to his development of the SeeDEGA guitar method for locating key chords on the fret board. His books, including THE SeeDEGA METHOD and LEADING WITH SeeDEGA are available at www.seedega.com. Joe lives in Rhinebeck, NY with his partner Amy Byrne and their children, Strachan and Maeve. Joe is also the father of two other beautiful children, Hailey Doran (Hailey Chianese) and Kane Doran.

What equipment do you use?
My main acoustic guitar right now is a Larrivee L03R. I've also used a Martin mahogany, an Ibanez EP7, a Guild DV52HG, and a Gibson EC10 on past recordings. For electric work, I use an Ibanez AG75--cheap but excellent. I have a Suzuki electric piano for piano and other instrument sounds. My recording setup is very basic. A Fostex digital mixer connected to a soundcard that can do 96/24 bit, a few microphones including an AudioTechnica 4033, and Sony Vegas 7 for tracking. I also use Sound Forge for sound file work.
