Jim Testa

Jim Testa is best known as the editor of Jersey Beat fanzine but he's also a singer/songwriter. Described by The Village Voice as "catchy, quirky, and lots of fun," Jim's debut EP "Songs My Father Never Sang" was released in 2002. His songs can be laugh out loud funny or bittersweet and heartbreaking. What stands out, according to rock scribe Tris McCall, are Jim's "surprisingly honest vocals, catchy melodies, and a penchant for brilliant couplets."
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I've played in clubs and bars throughout NJ and NYC as well as road trips to the WE Festival in North Carolina, Boston, and Chicago. Playing live is great fun. Applause is more addictive than heroin.
Your musical influences
My most obvious musical influences are acoustic singer/songwriters with clever lyrics: Bob Dylan, John Prine, Loudon Wainwright III, Tom Lehrer, Neil Young, and many many more. That said, my favorite band of all time is probably still The Ramones.
