Welcome to Pi Land!
I'm not trying to land a record deal or launch a music career here...just posting some homemade demos of songs I've written over the last 40 some odd years! I'm using a little Boss Recorder, Yamaha keyboard (mostly for drums) along with various guitars and mics.
My original intent was to just record these songs quickly so that I could show them to other musicians then get in a real studio, but I've since learned that studio time is expensive and my personal time (and money) is limited. So...these demos may be all I ever get to record...no problem...I feel lucky that I can leave something behind for my kids and grand kids to remember me by...or at least give 'em a few laughs!
Anyway, thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out the other fine musicians on SoundClick!
JimmyBand/artist history
It seems like I've always listened to rock and roll in some form. I remember when I was young kid that older kids in our neighborhood were always listening to the latest pop songs. Later, my older brother started getting into Edgar Winter, Rick Derringer, Alice Cooper and other wonderfully strange acts. I always listened to his records but when I saw Kiss on the Paul Lynne Halloween special, I totally flipped. It was the same kind of thing that happened in earlier generations when kids saw Elvis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones or whoever on TV then went out and started a band.
That started my own muscial journey at the tender (yet ripe) age of 13 years old. I quickly got into the usual 70's rock music...Zeppelin, Nugent, Aerosmith, Heart, Queen, Thin Lizzy, etc. I also really connected with the southern artists like Skynyrd, Blackfoot and Molly Hatchet.
Later I got into the early 80's metal bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Van Halen, and the like.
Toward the mid to late 80's I got into the jazz/fusion artists of the day: Allan Holdsworth, John McLaughlin, Al Dimeola, Pat Metheny...etc.
Through it all I lived a fairly normal life and played in cover bands off and on.
Now I'm trying to let all those influences work together and come up with some stuff of my own...with mixed results!Have you performed in front of an audience?Currently playing guitar with David Allen and the Drifting Outlaws.
