Jimmy Packes
Jimmy is probably best known for his instrumental guitar work. His CD "Axxe To Grind" has won over music fans and critics alike and has placed him alongside artists such as Joe Satriani, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck and Steve Vai. He has worked with a number of name acts including Queensryche, Blackfoot, The Good Rats, Zebra, Pat Travers, Robin Trower, Wendy O. Williams & Loudness. He has been considered to fill a number of slots in major touring bands including the bass slot for Joe Satriani and the guitar slot for Ozzy Osbourne, David Lee Roth, Faith No More, Guns 'n' Roses, 21 Guns and Never The Bride. Jimmy is in the studio and is once again putting together a touring act to promote his music.
He also has his own production company, Anjel Bue Productions, where he is responsible for the creation and distribution of audio loops and guitar lessons. Jimmy has also authored a number of articles and reviews, some of which can be found at the Anjel Blue Productions web site.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Live shows are really what it's all about. I love working in the studio and composing but being able to see the expressions on peoples faces when you do a great show...priceless.
Your musical influences
My influences are many and varied. Everything from funk to fusion,punk to metal to hip hop, r&b and classical. It all gets thrown into the big blender and, hopefully, comes out as something unique & original.
What equipment do you use?
I've been relying on Ibanez guitars for the last 15 years or so. Hiwatt amps usually provide the power and marshall cabs but I'm looking into a digital rig. I'm really jazzed about the NI guitar rig software and the Roland VG-88.
Anything else?
I think it's time for me to shut up and play my guitar. ;-)
