Jerry and wife Mary were dear friends more years ago than I care to number. Jerry's talent was a gift from God and much hard work for sure. On more than one occasion I was witness to Mary singing a new song just given to her by the Lord with Jerry accompanying her on the piano flawlessly - all unrehearsed. Stephen, this is a great tribute site dedicated to your Dad. He was truly a great talent.

Hi Stephen, I got to thinking about your father again today, and about the great music legacy he left you and and your family. His music I know will carry on bringing pleasure to many people, and I remember with fondness the first time I came across his unbelievable toe-tappers, which are of course on my stations along with the lovely heartfelt ones. You must be very proud as I'm sure he was of you. All the very best for the forthcoming Christmas season. Carol.x

I love this "song", I'm not sure what to call this a song or a tune, :) so sorry. It's hard to describe how you feel when you come across such a lovely piece of music, but this sure hits the spot. Jerry, you are great at what you do and man you live on forever.

To the Jerry Matthews family: I had the pleasure of meeting Jerry personally and listening to his God given talent. I could listen to him 24/7. Jerry knew my favorite song was the Music Box Dancer and everytime he saw me stopped in a crowd to listen to him, he would smoothly move to it. Not only did God move his fingers, God blessed his soul and it was apparent everytime I visited with him. If any of his fans didn't get a chance to meet him, they missed a true blessing. Sit back in a quiet place, close your eyes while listening to his CD's and you can feel his soul in your heart. What an experience.

There are some really inspired arrangements of old classic hymns on this page. I'm going to be borrowing some of these for the worship services I am leading.

Expressions of Love is a great compostion and a tribute. The Presence of the Lord shows that your Dad was one of a kind, a fully developed pianist that could really express the power of the Lord. I am in awe of his playing. Your father like mine was one of the great generation, they literally saved the world and our country. These guys were and are the real deal.

peace Steven, “Were You There (When They Crucified My Lord)” is a wonderful reminder of the past, where i sang it in church. wow what a pleasant mem. did your father write this?, if not he stired up a good reminder of past wonderful days.. Isa 57:1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth [it] to heart: and merciful men [are] taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil [to come]. Isa 57:2 He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, [each one] walking [in] his uprightness. bwell peaceRrock

Your father was so gifted I have listened to his songs and I am very impressed and even so much more impressed by a son who pays tribute to his father in such a way. Truly he was a blessed man who will live as long as you do . My condolences to you and your family.

Not even one minute into his first song I have already tears. I think of my dad and how doing something like what you have done would be wonderful. But none of that compensates for the loss of such a wonderful being. I am glad we have the hope of eternity spent with our loves ones.

Sorry about your lost man. Life seems so much bigger when you lose someone you love. You always want to make your next move your best move because you know they're watching and you want to keep them proud of you. The tribute is wonderful. Keep your head up.

Even though I did not know Jerry, but after listening to his music, and finding out he had passed away, my first thought was that God needed a good piano player such as Jerry in heaven. I know he is there and playing with the Angels in their band. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I was so very very sorry to hear that Jerry had passed away. My condolences to you Stephen, and all the family. His beautiful slow melodies, along with the great foot stompers, are treasures that will live on in our hearts. You must be very sad, but very proud also of having such a wonderfully talented and inspiring father. Thinking about you, Carol.
