I am part of a great band called Campo Xanto, by November 2006 we will be 10 years old. It is a band that thinks like friends first before behaving like bandmates. A band that continues to follow its musical vision, despite all odds. Part of my life will always be Campo Xanto, that is why I will never quit on the band.
At the same time I am trying to explore my individuality as an artist. So I'm making this solo project. Nothing profound, nothing deep just one of those brave/stupid freefall I do once in a while. :)
Band/artist history
1971- First shouted to the world
1975- So bored in a gym while mom was choreographing fashion show routines but started to settle down when Barry White was played on the P.A.
1978- Found a liking for Alphonse Mouson when it was regularly played by a fratboy neighbor.
1980- Lip synched with a broom everytime an Auntie played Devo, Ultravox, B-52s and the Police. Punk rock kid, that's me!
1982- Developed a liking for Jim Croce and Shakatak when an uncle left tapes of the aforementioned artists in the house
1984- So into breakdancing, Michael Jackson with the real nose, Afrika Bambataa and early rap.
1985- Played in a punk band called The Unchained
doing originals and covers of the cure, billy idol, the clash and gang of four
1987- The unchained revolved into Ugat, a gothic- new wave-punk- ethnic outfit
1988- Formed an almost agit prop band-U2 meets R.E.M. outfit called My Weeping Days. The band figured actively in the Anti-U.S. bases ralies.
1992- Remnants of My Weeping Days became the emocore/world music/alternative outfit called rain eternal.
1996- Released Tacloban city's very first D.I.Y album called The Waiting songs. Rain Eternal disbands.
1996- Santo Trio, emerges. The blueprint for Campo Xanto
1997- Campo Xanto is launched
1998-2001 - Tours, countless battle of the bands, the band never lost a band competition.
2002- Campo Xanto wins Grand prize of Red Horse Muziklaban, the Philippines' grandest band battle. Guaranteed prizes like the EMI recording contract and Channel V MTV was not given by San Miguel Beer the sponsor of the contest.
2003- Mango Sun the demo album was released by Campo Xanto. The band was part a nationally released album called Balangiga 1901. The album included songs from Noel Cabangon, Radio Active Sago Project, the Jerks etc..
2004-2006- Campo Xanto continues to play music. 2 members left the band for Manila. Campo Xanto reforms with 3 new members and is decided to take a world music/drum n bass/alternative route. Jerby finally decides to do a solo side project,.
