Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
My exposure to music has been vast and still growing.This takes in artists as far back as Gene Kelly,Billie Holliday,Marilyn Monroe,Nat King Cole,right up through Smokey Robinson,Selena,Janet Jackson,Cindy Lauper,Jewl and Madonna. I am 19 and did my 1st CD when I was 12,they were just cover tunes.The La Chateau(fashion line)in Montreal,agreed to dress me for 2 videos if I decided to go that way.Money was a problem and my family felt that at a young age there was so much more development as an artist to achieve.My mom was in the music field in her twenties,as for my dad hes totally deaf.I feel badly that he can't appreciate my voice,I guess thats why he doesn't seem very supportive of the career I've chosen. Several articles were written on me and I did the Talent Shows,Charities,Clubs,Bars,Fairs,Festivals and some television.All affiliated with my young career.The lack of funds does limit your progress but it didn't limit me to keep on singing.I have done some songwriting and hip hop dance.I was the Sunshine Girl for the Toronto Sun Newspaper(Dec,31st,2003) and I do some modeling for Babekini and Denver Colorado Models. In 2004 I received a contract from a independent Label in Toronto,but didn't sign, you gotta be happy with your contract.Also in 2004 I partnered up with Femapco an underground hip hop artist who owns Tetrahedra Records in St.Catharines.He wrote,produced my first original single Dont Care. I describe myself as determined,outspoken,perfectionist,humorous,with convictions of an activist.Now Im negotiating with Brooklyn New York for a manager/production company(in which they help in developing an artist.) I am into POP and R&B, but I love all types of music I am very versitle( a true musician has love for all music).
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes Ive played live,Ive done Festivals,Fairs,Charities,Clubs,Bars and Talent Shows.The most recent performance that i did was at a Sports Bar in North Toronto(auditioning for a record label.)I didn't sign, it was way too long for a contract.6 years is a bit much for me.Its awesome to perform!Especailly when its a good big crowd you feed off that energy and it makes you give it your all!Plus Ive only done shows in which I did cover tunes, so when my cd is finished I can finally give the audience me, and my originality.I cant wait its gonna be a thrilling experience. The show that sticks out the most is when I forgot my words, and asked them to stop the music. Then I remembered them so I said nevermind,lol.Ya Im a big nerd,good thing this was from my younger years.
Your musical influences
My biggest influence is my mom of course,she is the strongest person that Ive ever known!She's taught me how to survive when you aint got nothing,and to never give up.Even as much as I privately wanted things to be easy,it was always best to learn the struggle,its made me the person that I am today! My inspiration is Jewl,I think thats she's absolutely amazing!Madonna cause she breaks the rules and thats my kind of girl!Others Pink,Eminem,Britney Spears,2-Pac,Janet Jackson,Cindy Lauper,Nat King Cole,Billie Holiday,Marilyn Monroe,Selena and J-LO.
