Jefferson Crow
Currently in the Salt Lake area; formerly Reno and Santa Cruz... Guitar, pedal steel, dobro, mandolin, bass, keyboards, and vocals; sometimes in a band "with friends" or sometimes alone as a solo act. Original music, sort of a miz between Bruce Hornsby without the piano and Tom Petty without the whine.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
On the road all over the USA for the enitre decade of the 70's playing pedal steel. As a solo act mostly in the Bay Area and Reno in the 80's and 90's. Now in the Salt Lake area.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
"Live" is rather open to debate...The most special moment is waking up after a two-month tour and discovering you can still chew gum and walk.
Your musical influences
Mark Knopfler, Gram Parsons, Bruce Horsnby, Gene Clark, The Flying Burrito Brothers, the Byrds, The Notting Hillbillies, Runrig
What equipment do you use?
Same stuff I've used for years; other than that, whatever works.
Anything else?
Any fool can make noise; what really matters is melody and lyrics. That's why people will be walking down the street humming old Beatle songs long after we're gone.
