The Jeff Austin Project is a melodic hard rock project consisisting of Cdn. songwriter, producer, drummer, keyboardist, b.u. vocalist, Jeff Austin & lead, b.u. vocalist Mark Roebuck - and American guitarist, (platinum recording) engineer, keyboardist, b.u. vocalist & bassist, guitarist, b.u. vocalist Rex Alan.
In 1989, Jeff Austin decided to break away from the band situation because of too many years of internal band hastles.
Good friend and triple platinum award winning musician/producer John Albani got JA his first big break by winning and recording a Canadian FACTOR grant. The end results were a 4 song ep with the single Lisa landing on Toronto's local radio station Q-107's Homegrown cd.
Austin's debut cd "Go Big Or Stay Home" was recorded in Mark Severns florida studio and released independently in 1998. It was eventually signed by the largest independant co. in the world N&T/Frontiers and released in March 2002.
Lack of touring and label interest have left JAP
in limbo however the new cd's worth of material is written and ready to be recorded.Have you performed in front of an audience? Not recently.
Your musical influences
My biggest music influence is Neil Peart from RUSH. Living in the same city as my biggest influences was huge but there are so M A N Y !
Peart, Bonham, Aldridge, Downey, Binks, S. Smith, Castronovo, Lee and a couple of personal friends Steve Negus (Saga) who took me under his wing (so to speak and taught me SO much about drumming & LIFE), and Randy Cook (Cookie Monster).
Without Rich Chycki & John Albani 's guidance, I would have never made it as far. What equipment do you use?
1982 Tama Superstar X-Tra series (2" extra on every drum) DW pedals,
