Trumpeter Jason Palmer has quickly become one of the most in demand jazz musicians of his generation. The June 2007 issue of Downbeat Magazine cited Jason as one of the ?Top 25 trumpeters of the Future?. In May of 2008 Jason was the first trumpet player ever to be hired by highly acclaimed guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel to perform with his quintet. Jason has served as a sideman for Greg Osby (2004-2006), performing at major jazz festivals in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Switzerland, France, Malta, Netherlands, as well as two stints at the Village Vanguard in New York City. Jason has performed at the Newport Jazz Festival, Tanglewood Jazz Festival, Marblehead Jazz Festival, Berks Jazz Festival, Beantown Jazz Festival as a member of Kendrick Oliver?s New Life Jazz Orchestra (2000-2006) and is currently performing along sixteen year old phenom Grace Kelly?s Quintet and Matana Robert?s Quintet. Jason has been a featured soloist with Grace and Matana (both alto saxophonists) at the Etna Jazz Festival (Sicily), Moers Jazz Festival (Germany), Tampere Jazz Happening (Finland), Winter Fest (Knitting Factory, NYC), Dizzy?s Club Coca-Cola, Rose Hall at Lincoln Center, Jazz Bakery (L.A.), Sculler?s Jazz Club, Clearwater Jazz Holiday (FL).
Jason?s quintet, the Jason Palmer Collective has been serving as the house band at Boston?s historical Wally?s Jazz Caf? for the past eight years. On Sundays his trio hosts a jam session that nurtures the talents of many student jazz musicians here in Boston. He recently released his debut recording entitled ?Songbook?. The album is comprised of nine original compositions and features Greg Osby on alto and Ravi Coltrane on tenor. In 2007, Jason Palmer was one of five trumpeters commissioned by the Festival of New Trumpet Music in NYC to premier a new work for his quintet. His work entitled Beauty in Numbers, a two-hour jazz suite for quintet based on a Sudoku game was premiered in September of 2007 at the Jazz Standard in Manhattan. Jason plans on recording it with Kurt Rosenwinkel for commercial release in the spring of 2009.
In addition to maintaining a heavy performing schedule, Jason Palmer continues to maintain a busy schedule as an educator on all levels. At a time when many teachers in the Boston area are commuting from New York City, Jason has began to commute from Boston to New York City to serve on the faculty at the New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music in the fall of 2008. Jason has taught trumpet and directed ensembles in the Preparatory Division and the School for Continuing Education at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston for the past ten years where he continues to maintain a full trumpet studio as well as direct three small ensembles. He is also a faculty member at the Aquinas College Jazz Camp (Grand Rapids, Michigan, 2004-present) and also taught at the 2000 Mile High Jazz camp in Boulder Colorado. In the fall of 2008 Jason Palmer was invited to perform and give masterclasses in Portugal at the Guimaraes Jazz Festival.Have you performed in front of an audience?Every chance to play live is a special moment.

Hey man i saw your band friday at wallys and you guys were killing. great winds great rhythm section. My friends and i who all play and love jazz are all too young to get in but my friend is a student of lee's and he got us in and i'm glad we got to see your band. I thought the tunes were great, especially the odd-meter stuff that you guys were obviously really comfortable with. keep up the playing, i'll be back to see you guys again.

I listened to your song :Eye Of the beholder"...from what i understand that is just a sample?...its some pretty darn good playing, except its hard to hear with the fuzzyness in the recording...good job! you have talent for sure..I voted this song HOT so keep doing what your doing....I would like for you to come by my site and listen to my new acoustic instrumental, thanks
