JAS is a unique Christian Artist/Writer/Producer who combines the styles of Hip-hop, Rap, Pop, R&B and Jazz to create songs that minister to the soul and give glory to God...Band/artist history
Born in 1967 into a musical family, JAS (pronounced Jayce - aka J. Turner) grew up playing clarinet in school until 11th grade, then switching to the electric bass. He started his own band in high school, writing the material, playing bass and singing lead vocals. JAS spent a considerable amount of time over the years creating his own multi-track recordings at home, along with playing in various venues with different bands. In the mid-90's, JAS accepted Christ as his personal saviour and began playing bass in church every Sunday in Los Angeles. Jas however, backslid into the world again and stopped practicing his faith until the latter part of 2002. He then re-dedicated his life to Christ and began fellowship at the Word of God Family International Church in Duarte, CA, where he was soon titled a Minister of Music. JAS began using his musical gift to glorify God, self-producing his first independent release entitled "Inspired by the Word of God", which has been selling locally (also available on CDBABY.com). JAS has also written songs that the church youth have performed. JAS has performed at many churches, including a concert of his own at the Family International Church, Pasadena, in March 2003. He has delighted many of God's people of different ages with his creative lyrical stylings and musical flow (all glory to God). At the end of 2003, JAS completed his second CD "Preformed" and moved to Spring Valley, NV. There, he joined the River of Life Word Ministries Church, where he served God playing bass, drums, operating the soundroom and working with the youth. In early 2010, JAS moved with his wife to Oregon, where he is currently starting a new project.Anything else?
