Hello . My name is James Turner. I have had a dream to take my music to all the world, mainly because I have a love for the gospel and a very strong love for the people that I come in contact with through my music. I have been working towards becoming a solo artist. I can express my true feelings and musical ability to satisfy all who sit and listen to my music.
Band/artist history
I started playing when I was 10 years old. I have played all styles of music from Bluegrass to Jazz, Classical to Country. Fingerstyle is my favorite form of guitar playing because you do not need a band to play it. You can play all these styles in a fingerstyle form. I grew tired of the band scene and wanted to do something on my own. I always admired Chet Atkins because of his ability to play without the backing of a band. I converted to fingerstyle several years ago.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
One of my favorite moments is when I opened for the Neilons and they gave me an outstanding recomendation. Another when Chet's nephew, Dennis Williams. stopped his tour long enough to come see me in concert. Another was opening for Bob Saxton, another guitar legend. I will play in any church or college. I love to play at the Country Village Gospel Opry in Ticfaw La. That place features many famous gospel artists. I love to play where people have an appreciation for what I do.
Your musical influences
Chet Atkins, Bob Saxton, Leo Kottke, Rick Ruskin, James Taylor, Stefan Grossman, Marc Hanson, Merl Travis
What equipment do you use?
Equipment I use: Taylor delux 800 series jumbo cutaway, a 2001 Larrivee Orchestra cutaway model, 1954 Gibson J 45 and a 1973 USA made Sigma Martin(before Martin sent there Sigma line over seas), a Fender Acoustasonic Acoustic Amp, a Shure wireless system for my guitars and Martin Thinline pickups for my guitars. My Main acoustics are my Taylor and my Larrivee.
Anything else?
I want to thank my sponsors: The Country Village Opry in TicFaw, LA is a major sponser. Their music store gives me free strings, free amplifiers, etc...Their opry house features well known gospel singers. I'd like to thank my record label, Zamar Records, my agent, Sharon A.
