James Aalan Bernsen
I'm an amateur musician interested in Texas Country/Americana and blues. But as you can see from my songs, I do a few different things as well. All songs are written completely by me, with the exception of "Greasy Fajitas". That song is written in conjunction with my brother. The name is a take-off of Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Chitlins con carne."
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I have a real job which is just as fulfilling as my music, so I haven't done live stuff in a long time. I have had bands before, but nothing enduring.
Your musical influences
Stevie Ray Vaughan, Carlos Santana, Robert Earl Keen, Houston Marchman, Dickey Betts.
What equipment do you use?
I have eight guitars and mostly use Fender Stratocasters for my electric work. However, I prefer to do accoustic stuff. Right now, I use a Martin DCX1E and an Alvarez 12-string. I'm pretty picky about my sound and like stuff with lots of trebble, which is very surprising for someone who grew up on Santana and Dickie Betts.
