Jaies Baptiste
Very talented R & B singer as well as songwriter. These are just two of many qualities that describe me. Coming from a musically inclined family, it's no coincidence that this is the path that I chose for myself. While I do believe in my talent, I am always humble enough to know that I still have much to learn and I am an eager student. I think my style is derived from a conglomeration of artist, and I don't consider myself to be completely R&B. I love many different genres of music, and I draw from those genres when I am writing a song, always attempting to be innovative.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I do perform live and it's such a rush...I get butterflies every single time! I mean, I'm a complete nervous wreck! But by the time I get out there on the stage, and get the vibe from the crowd, you literally have to pull me off stage 'cuz I don't want to stop!
Your musical influences
OMG! I love motown! Smoky, The Temptations, you name it! Earth, Wind, and Fire, Lit, Maroon 5, Destiny's Child, Katherine Battle, Ashford and Simpson, Ohio Players, The Monk, Mimi, Alicia Keys, Luther Vandross, The Delfonics, En Vogue and Boyz II men (serious harmonies), man I could go on! But, the artist who inspired me, from the very beginning, is Mr. MJ (Michael Jackson)...he definitely earned his title of pop artist of the millenium, no one can touch him, he is a musical genius!
What equipment do you use?
Violin, pencil, notebook...LOL...I am trying to graduate to the Triton so that I can get more into the producing side, however, I am still at the basics!
