***PLEASE NOTE THAT JAD no longer exists. The band is now STATE OF MAN****
The music known as JâD began in Atlanta during the summer of 2000 with a union of four established artists from separate successful outfits in the region. Each member brings a unique sound and style to the mix, which together has created one of the most powerful rock acts in the Southeast. JâD’s sound consists of sophisticated, melodic rock that delivers a slashing edge. The band’s music coupled with an incredibly powerful live show, have allowed them to take the Southeast music scene by storm; including winning multiple regional competitions, and developing a significant and devoted fan base. The band has been touring the Southeast in support of their debut full-length album (Lose Your Mind), and recently recorded an EP with Don McCollister (Sister Hazel, Indigo Girls, Shawn Mullins).

This seasoned and devoted group of musicians has spent years developing their skills while gaining professional experience in other projects before coming together to form the driven and melodic sounds of JaD (pronounced ‘jade’). - Born in Biggin Hill, England, James Beal moved to New Jersey, USA to begin a music career as bass player. Beale’s modern rock influences gave him an ear for laying down strong rhythmic grooves. As the former bass player for Wil's Drama, Beal began to see some rewards for his professionalism, skill and hard work. His band was selected for the Warped Tour in Atlanta, Music Midtown, VH1's top 5 unsigned bands list, for WNNX (99X) Atlanta's Top 5 regional band list, and won several national competitions. With his former band's singles having received play in 35 radio stations across the country, as well as two of his songs featured on ESPN, Beal is no stranger to exceptional music or success. - Lead vocalist/lyricist John Stringer's background in music began in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he grew up listening to Gospel and Motown artists. After his mother’s constant encouragement to sing, he eventually grew to love the effect music could have on an audiences. He continued to tap into that power as a cadet at USMA/West Point while touring with the Gospel Choir, and eventually as a transfer at Morehouse College, where he joined his first band, Josiah’s Reign. Six years and another “progressive soul” band (Soulspeak) later, Stringer found himself gaining great songwriting skills as well as great stage presence from performing before audiences from hundreds to thousands. His versatile and powerful vocals blend well with the melodic sounds of JaD. - As a transplant from Omaha, Nebraska, Chris Love started playing the drums in Annapolis, Maryland at the age of 10, and by 13, began earning money for his skills. Though he went on to graduate college with a Theatre degree, his love for 60's classic and psychedelic rock has lead him to a passionate life of playing the drums. With the longest professional career in JaD, Love is a seasoned pro who has enjoyed opening for Def Leopard and Tripping Daisies with his former band, Break the Promise, at Atlanta's Hi-Fi Buys (Lakewood) Amphitheatre, as well as drawing large crowds at the Roxy and the Masquerade; all while honing his chops as the house drummer for Atlanta’s Celebrity Rock Cafe. It is clear that he is here to bring a wide range of rhythms, classic and modern, to JaD's universal rock feel. - As the youngest and final member of the band, guitarist Thomas Panza brings a diverse entertainment background to the band, as well as infectious creativity and awe inspiring guitar work. A native of Queens, New York, Panza picked up the guitar in his early teens and discovered a true love and talent for driven rock melodies. His former band, One Under, gained a cult college following before disbanding in 2000. He has played with major label artists such as Jump, Little Children (Atlantic), Phife from A Tribe Called Quest (JIVE), and DoubleDrive (MCA) to name a few. His hard rock music background and song composition skills help lay the foundation for many of JaD's songs. As a black belt, former karate instructor, and Clique model, Panza also brings discipline and showmanship that help round the incredible sound of JaD. The hard work and dedication of this Atlanta band spawned material and the financial backing for their forthcoming record in under 6 months. With momentum rapidly building, evident from the band's packed shows and radio response, JaD anticipates the coming years to be very rewarding.Have you performed in front of an audience?***PLEASE NOTE THAT JAD no longer exists. We definitely play live... primarily throughout the South East (GA, TN, AL and SC being our key markets for now)!
Our favorite Atlanta venues have been The Tabernacle, Hard Rock Cafe, 9Lives Saloon, the 10High (formerly Dark Horse Tavern), and Cotton Club, but we've also enjoyed playing some other spots, as well as some great benifit concerts and fundraisers in ATL. Since the release of our debut CD in Atlanta stores (October 6, 2001)and on-line, and three additional singles in 2003, we've set out to travel to every city that responds - and we plan on doing a LOT of touring.
Our favorite Chattanooga, TN venue is The Bay, but it closed June 26, 2003.
We love playing live for several reasons - we were all born/blessed with the talents to rock; we love the responses were getting as a DIY "indie" band (like "holy @###, why haven't I heard of you guys before", or "You guys aren't signed?"); and, their is no greater thrill than doing what you love, what you do best and what people will pay you to keep doing.
One of the best moments so far has been seeing hundreds of people at our CD release party singing our songs BEFORE we even released the CD! Anyone who busts their @$$ to put their heart and soul into their music, and sees a crowd respond like that will tell you it is very special... no sap intended.
Another highlight would have to be winning the NEXT LEVEL competition put on by 96 Rock, Music Midtown Festival 2002, and the Cotton Club in Atlanta, where we were selected the #1 local Rock band via internet votes, performance, and venue attendance, enabling us to play on one of three main stages in the largest music festival in the South. Other main stage artists included STP, Kid Rock, Bush, No Doubt, Puddle of Mud, Hoobastank, Better Than Ezra, Journey, Eddie Van Halen, Mother's Finest, and the list goes on!
Thanks to our Familly, we've one every battle of the bands we've played so far!

We are a four-peice band that uses an assortment of bass, electric, and acoustic guitars, as well as kick ass drums and vocal mics. Since we aren't getting paid to endorse anyone, we won't mention the manufacturers. We are of course open to hearing all legit endorsement offers.Anything else?
