Jack Maisie, Jr. is a young singer/songwriter living in the Dallas, TX area. His primary focus is the acoustic guitar, but he also writes for the piano as well. Though many of his songs are political, most are very personal. His primary influences are musicians and bands like Bob Dylan and Alice in Chains. His music has been described as "folksy grunge rock."
I started out playing piano for a band called Severed Roses. It only lasted about a month, but it got me into the scene. A couple years later a friend and I created a band in which I played the bass that went through several names but ended with Broken Culture. It lasted about two years before I left to focus on school. I tried a couple side projects during that time that never worked out, including Afterlife, Bludwhore, and New Roman. I finally ended up picking up a guitar and teaching myself how to play it. I've been performing solo since I was seventeen, save for a couple months when I played the bass for a band called The Pozniaks.
When it comes to the rhythm of my songs, I'm influenced most by Bob Dylan and Tom Petty. My lyrical influences are Layne Staley and Kurt Cobain. Vocal influences are Cobain and Billy Corgan.
