This insane, but gentle creature has been around the block more than just a few times. Playing in the orchestra and singing in chior all through school brought out Mr. Salvation's love for all types of music. Singing for a Heavy Metal Band in the late 80's was the start of the insanity. Although that was short lived it had a great impact on Jack's life. Involvements in drug deals, insurance scams, police shootings and addiction's, finally landing Jack in Juvenile detention centers for a few years. But a white boy winning rap contests in a Detroit juvenile detention center was unheard of, until Jack D arrived. Meeting Eazy E during a stay in a juvenile placement center gave Jack D new life. Sadly, Instead of pursuing a music career, he was forced to "grow up" and go to college. College quickly became boring and the streets called Mr. Salvation back. Living from day to day running many crime sprees finally caught up with him and again he was incarcerated. Wayne County Jail in Detroit, MI became his home, more than not. Finally Life took a drastic change, growing up was inevitable. Working dead end jobs and raising a family totally killed any ideas of creating music. Then at age 28, the unthinkable happened. DoC was injured and needed surgery on his lower back. Boredom ruled his life for years after that, but music started coming back into his life. After 5 years of pain and suffering and 3 surgeries later, feeling that life had given him a raw deal, he changed his ways once again. Earning 4 doctrines in 5 years quickly gave Jack the nickname DoC. Running one paranormal investigation group and helping run two ghost hunting groups gave him something to keep him out of trouble. Finally, working with RipNcru on an album brought the quiet DoC back to life. Now working with a few bands and looking for a dedicated band has become his fulltime job in life. Other projects are always in the works, and don't be surprised when a heavy metal/alternative/rap/insane Jack(DoC)Salvation is released onto the world.
Your musical influences
My influences run from Metallica, Nirvana, Slayer, Anthrax, Ozzy, Pantera, Type 0 Negative, and Aerosmith to old school rappers, like Eazy E, Tupac, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and Ice T and of course I will not forget the 80's hair bands. I enjoy most every genre of music and am inspired by all of it. I grew up in a family that listened to Country and Rock and found my way to my own style. I was a long haired heavy metal hippy back in the 80's, but what white boy wasn't. I was also a vocalist in a heavy metal band in the late 80's. I have been inspired to do some totally different music with all of the new Punk, Rap, R&B, Rock, Metal and alternative music hitting the charts lately. Basically if I hear music I listen no matter what genre it is.
