Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Irony Of Christ was conceived by Sacha Darwin in mid 2001. After much discussion of forming a band, three members of Kachana created Irony Of Christ. Initially they stayed as a three-piece with Tom doing electronic drums.
Having written a few songs together they brought in Pete on drums and Tom concentrated on keyboards. With this line up they began to put together some of the songs as a complete band.
In the summer of 2001 Kachana recorded an album and following that Mulch recorded a new demo leaving no time for IOC. Finally in the start of 2003 the band regrouped to refresh the old songs and then recruited second guitarist, Jon, who left shortly after deciding IOC wasn't where he wanted to be.
IOC then went on to record their first EP, 'The Eternal War', during the first few months of 2004. They recorded it themselves then had it mixed and mastered by Ed Shackleton at Cabin Fever Studios. They are now playing around the UK in support of the EP.
Unfortunately shortly after releasing 'The Eternal War', Shieldy decided to leave the band as he couldn't commit himself enough to the band. At the same time Sacha left Kachana for similar reasons so he could now put more time into Irony of Christ. IOC has since found Dan Bartlett of Bristol speed/thrash band, Craniosacral, to take up bass duties. Following this was the addition of lead guitarist Rob Quick. Having a second guitarist will now allow the band to expand their sound.
After the Eternal War Tour, Irony of Christ decided Rob's style wasn't working with the band and replaced him with long time friend, Dave MacLean, also of Craniosacral. Dave's addition was sure to add a heavier sound but retaining the melodic side.
After several gigs around the south of England to get Dave settled in, the band began recording their second CD in April 2005 with producer Ed Shackleton in London. 'Words of the Forgotten' would be different to 'The Eternal War' due to the obvious lack of keyboards as well as the increased range of influences represented by the new lineup and the new song writing partnership of Sacha and Dave.

We use Peavey amplification (5150 heads for guitar, T-Max for bass) and a range of guitars including Ibanez, ESP Ltd, Jackson and Schecter, and drum wise it's something like Tama Iron Cobra pedals, Premier Kit and mostly Zidjian Z-Custom Cymbals, Remo pinstripe tom heads, Remo Emperor Snare head...
Anything else?
We aren't the most brutal band in the world, or the fastest, and parts of our songs your parents might even like, or at the very least appreciate musically, but then, not all of the songs and not all of the parts.
