Instrumental Phunk-IPh Productions

12 years ago a group of guys cut class to chill in the band room of Philly's High School for Engineering and Science. Little did we know that not going to class would set our lives on a common path-- the production and performance of dope hip-hop music. Since then, Instrumental Phunk has recorded a demo (1996) and an extra song (1997 and 1998), performed live, and now are delving into hip-hop production.
Band/artist history
Instrumental Phunk formed 12 years ago when the band members decided to cut class and go to the music room. Dave started playing drums and rhyming, Leon was playing keys and rhyming, and Steve was on the sax. For the next two years, IPh would have a floating roster which included anyone willing to play in the music room. But the core members remained. Two years after graduating high school in 1994, the group recorded a demo at Milkboy Productions in Philly. With that recording, IPh added a 4th member-- Tyrone aka Teqniq. Teqniq provided rhyme skills as well as production skills. After performing at some area universities and the Silk City club, the group went into an unofficial hiatus. In 2004, IPh Productions was born. Same crew, slightly different name, slightly different focus. Now, we are focused on introducing up and coming MCs and singers to the world. We're poised to release our first compilation which will include beats, rhymes, and songs from us and our artists. Instrumental Phunk is: Steve Jackson aka Jazzman Dave Lewis aka Ill aka Dave Diggy Leon Woolford aka Kre Z. Stylz Tyrone Lambert aka Teqniq "A,E,I,O,U and sometimes Y"
