insomnia band
We're a punk/rock band based in Colchester, Essex.
Mozy plays drums, rob plays bass, lefty plays rythym guitar, matt plays lead guitar, and ed is vocalist and keyboardist.
We play some covers, but play mostly our own material.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
We joined together, when the drummer Moz, heard of a band competition from his teacher, and asked rythym guitarist Lefty if he wanted to play with him. The band extended out from there, as we decided that we needed more people to have a thicker sound as a band, and as a result the others joined, and after the first competition we stuck together.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We do play live, in our hometown Colchester. It's good playing in Colchester, because there are a lot of venues for different styles of bands to play in, ranging from pubs to real music venues.
Your musical influences
Our major influences come from AC/DC with the young brothers style of playing, Foo Fighters as they provide a good range from acoustic to heavy rock, and also Guns 'n' Roses, purely because you can't beat they're original sound and style, which is how we like to see ourself as musicians.
What equipment do you use?
We use a Mapex V drum kit with added splash, ride, crash and china, stagg bass guitar and amp setup, and epiphone sg's and les pauls through 120W behringer amps with added zoom effect pedals, and for PA we use a shure microphone and stagg PA system
