Band/artist history
In January of 2004 two guitarists Chris Defaut and Brian Magley met at their local music store. While browsing around Brian heard something unusual coming from the guitar section of the store, not "Stairway to Heaven" or "Smells like Teen Spirit", no it couldnt be someone playing Metal? But it was. Brian being a guitarist and metal fan himself soon struck up a conversation with Chris. Shortly after the two got together for a jam session, and realized that they played well together, had a lot of the same ideas writing wise, and both yearned to play music that was far removed from the new disgusting Pop-Metal scene.
After writing their first song "Repent and Prey", the hunt was on for a drummer and bassist. The two soon turned to an old school friend of Brians, Sal Guasto for drums. After jamming with him one time they knew that Sal was the man for the job. As the newly formed band moved from practice room to practice room, and after writing more songs the search for a bassist continued.
In late February of 2004 they turned to a close friend of Chris, Danny Evans to take up bass. The band then decided it might be interesting to bring a keyboardist on board. In early March, Rob Miller was inducted as the keyboardist. Now a full ensemble they were ready to begin playing shows, in an attempt to rid the world of the Nu-Pussy-Metal affliction. The first show how ever was not a complete success. Robs queer keyboard performance of "Take me Out to The Ball game" under a barrage of Destructive Metal mania, completely tore away from the bands true sound. Consequentially Rob was soon asked to leave the band. It was also at this time the band decided keyboards were not suitable for their sound.
Around the same time Danny decided to leave the band as well citing that Bass was not his first or desired instrument , and that he would prefer to continue his own project in which he plays guitar. The band wished the best of luck to him and the hunt for a new bassist was on.
Months went by and more material was written but the band was still without a bass player. The three still managed to play shows and attract fans but the bottom end was still missing. Finally after distributing countless bass flyers with no response, Chris ran into his old friend, Alex LaBoyd. Alex liked the ideas INFERNAEON had and decided to give the band a try. After two practices, Alex was officially "In" as the full-time bassist. After a week of sick fuckin metal being expelled from rehearsals, Alex decided that a band was not the best thing for him at the time.
Once again the search for a bassist persisted and the band came close to giving up. Having searched around endlessly with the intentions of playing in an extremely heavy metal band, Kevin Gibbons came across a flyer at a music store. Doubting the existence of such a band in South Florida he called Brian to set up a try out, and after watching the band play -his hunger for aggression was finally fulfilled. After one practice, INFERNAEON knew that Kevin was the man to take over.
By the summer of 2004 the first four songs had been completed and the band felt it was time to enter the studio to record their first demo, to later be titled "Oracle Of Armageddon". The recording was completed in about three weeks. The recording was produced by Zack Brown of HOMELAND STUDIOS. The length of the demo was a surprise! The four songs totaled to 29 minutes (longer than a lot of bands Full Length releases)! The over all quality of the recording impressed the band , especially considering that it was done for about $700. But there was something about the over all drumming that lacked the brutality that they yearned for.
The band went on to play numerous shows throughout the south Florida area, and at just about every show someone in the audience would commend them on their skilled song writing , but at the same time comment on how "It just didnt sound tight" or "Not quit all together". Continuing to hear these comments about both the Live performances and the demo, the band was struck with the inevitable dilemma of finding a new drummer, or just keeping everything the way it was thus stunting creative growth.
This left Chris, Brian, and Kevin with the extremely difficult task of persuading Sal to part ways with the band, citing that the music was not in line with his drumming technique. Chris, Brian, and Kevin were left with the extremely difficult task of persuading Sal to part ways. In the end it was mutually decided that this was best for the band.
Soon after a seemingly miraculous* discovery was made. While attending a DEICIDE show at the Culture Room in Ft.Lauderdale, Chris ran into a drummer by the name of Claudio Herrera. After a fun old time of listening to fantastic God Bashing music and getting pummeled in mosh pits, Chris invited Claudio to come and try out for INFERNAEON. After about 32.4 seconds of listening to Claudio belt out butchering blast beats and insane drum rolls, it was mutually decided among band mates that this guy kicked ass and they wanted him in the band. Claudio seemed to really express a great interest in what they were doing as well.
The current line-up of INFERNAEON now consists of Chris Defaut- Vocals and Lead/Rhythm guitar, Brian Magley- Lead/Rhythm guitar, Kevin Gibbons- Bass, and Claudio Herrera- Drums. Playing the ultimate music that has always been in their visions. Now the band is ready to distribute their sound to the masses. Let true armageddon conquer!
*Note: INFERNAEON doesnt really believe in miracles or endorse those who do, the term is used to describe an unlikely set of circumstances which occurred at this time.
