Indische

Indische are the princes of Asiatic hip-hop, fusing funk, traditional and slow techno music with inspired rap lyrics "...aimed at the most..." and filled to the brim with philosophy, be it superficially or between the lines and words...
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
There are 2 of us - Rajan (AKA Raj Mahal) and Hasan (AKA SAKTi). The name, "Indische" was actually inspired by a very similar word in dutch, which means "Indies". Rajan is from India (The Indies) and Hasan is from Indonesia (The East Indies) and so we thought we should come up with a name that's original and has a meaning. We first performed at a graduation dinner and we got lots of positive and encouraging comments from everyone. SAKTi was already into making music on the computer using Modplug Tracker as a hobby. So we then decided that we should try making our own music and write meaningful lyrics rather than the typical drugs, money and women people hear in the hottest music of the genre. Another major inspiration was the youngsters who perform here who dont sound even half as good as we do (not to be cocky or anything but its true) and they get heaps of attention for the crap they do. They write the typical lyrics about money and women even though its nonsense when they sing it. They aren't even original enough to make their own music. They either steal loops or use instrumentals for other songs. If they can get away with only so much, then just imagine what we could pull off. So thats what got us going... and here we are...
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes. We played live many times in Brunei, our base country. Of course we like it! A special moment was when we performed our songs live in the Amphitheater, in front of approx. 4000 in an Indonesian independence day festival.
