IMPURITY Dark, Brutal Florida Deathmetal
Band/artist history
Impurity formed in October of 1998 when guitarist/vocalist Damian Scott and drummer Andrew Thorkildson decided to collaborate on their first death metal project. Later, long time friend and bassist Josh Townsend (ex-Scab Maggot) joined the band. In September of 2000, the band entered MacabreWeb studios where they recorded their demo release "Subjugation of Mankind". The demo was released on Halloween, 2000. In 2001, Joshua Seaman joined the band on vocals for a short stint before having to move to another state. He was replaced in 2001 by Ed Makowske. After a year of practicing, and writing, it was time to record once again. Brian Malone of Florida's Diabolic referred us to Juan "Punchy" Gonzalez of "Diet of Worms" studios in Tampa, FL. Punchy had worked with Diabolic on their recordings and had also been a longtime live-sound tech for the legendary Morbid Angel. Needless to say, he was a wise choice. What resulted was Impurity's first professionally recorded release entitled "Unearthly Affinity", easily boasting some of the best production to emerge from the genre in quite a long time. In January 2003, Impurity added a long-needed second guitarist named Jeremy Caldwell. We have also parted ways with vocalist, Ed Makowske. He has been replaced by long time friend of the band, Steve "Silverback" Lariz. In early 2004, Impurity parted ways with long-time bassist, Josh Townsend. Josh will be pursuing a career in independent film-making. The split was completely mutual and amicable and we wish him the best of luck. Since then, long time friend Ken Henderson has joined the band on bass. Impurity is currently endeavoring to finish a full-length by the beginning of 2005.
