The Third War has begun....
Band/artist history
Imperial Empire is a project birthed from the passion, dedication and vision of one man Lee Wollenschlaeger. The seed for Imperial Empire was first planted while Lee was living in London. There he served as the vocalist and bassist for Throne Of Nails (themselves an up and coming force in the local extreme scene at the time), but gradually he grew increasingly frustrated with the limitations imposed by the band. In the meantime, his love for bands like Suffocation, Vader, Morbid Angel and Immolation was distilling alongside his own creativity a sound that was too aggressive for his current outfit, while at the same time also darker and more melodic. Upon his return to his native South Africa in mid-2000, he began actively composing what would become the first Imperial Empire songs, which in 2002 formed part of the bands maiden full-length demo entitled Cries From A Dying Race. This demo was extremely well received, and after recruiting suitable session musicians, Imperial Empire played a string of sold-out local shows, often with little or no advertising backing. In 2003, Imperial Empire unleashed the follow-up to Cries, dubbed The Second Coming. An instantly more mature and well-rounded effort, it was distributed to rave reviews, with www.chroniclesofchaos.com among others calling it an unpretentiously enjoyable death metal disc that should not fail to please any death metal addicts... Another year's worth of writing and recording, sees 2004 bringing us The Third War a darker, more mature and above all, more brutal prospect. Several steps forward in every aspect, the release of The Third War sees Wollenschlaeger exploring new levels of aggression and bleak, soulful melody. Imperial Empire is currently considering a number of offers for distribution and recording contracts.
