Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
It all started on cold winter afternoon. Little did the future members know, but the muses were floating around them that day, and the effects would be imfamous... That day Nick (Julius) and Remy (Brody) started a jam session that would forever change their lives. With the help of B Lowd and Sammy D, the once in a lifetime band S.M.I.L.E. was born. Short for 'Shattered Memories In Life's Emptiness' SMILE was little more than a comical happenstance. However Brody and Julius were determined to recreate this event, but to no avail. That is, until on evening, again in the residence of Brody, that the next step in the progression of the band took place. A nameless band to this day, Brody, Julius and Tambo started jamming. The results were immediate. Within a half an hour the song 'Remy' was born. Happy but not fully satisfied with this, they embarked on a new song, a song they thought had true potential. And while starting about Tambo, the song took turn after turn that would change the members forever. The first spontaneous shout-out was yelled, and they realized they had found what they were looking for. The song finished, and is now a cherished memory for each of those present, as well as many others. Several other unsuccessful, or rather less successful, jams took place between the first shout out and the commencement of the legend that is
'I'm Depressed Said the Giant Octopus'.
it started as a spur of the moment idea when the three invited a fourth, Schau, to jam. Schau, unwittingly, completed the now quartet, and on bass added an element never before even approached. Withing minutes the band had created a winning song, and shortly after the name was created. Through the night they experimented with how they work together, and they also learned how to work with each other, and how the others play. The chemistry of the band was undeniable, and by the end of the night, they had created a full length cd. What happens next will surely be interesting.........

Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
we always play live. usually in nick's bedroom/computer room. Of course we like it, otherwise we wouldn't do it. Probably before we were a band and we wrote/played crabs, as that was the first song we pulled off shout outs in.
