Illegal Zucchini
WHAT ABOUT ILLEGAL ZUCCHINI:
Illegal Zucchini consists of Cincinnati-based musicians with two CD's "Candy Bubbles" and "The Legend of Johnny Stagger". The CD's specialize in casual rock, country, and idiocy, all bordering on indifference. Their CD's are available on MP3.com.
LISTEN.COM REVIEW: "Illegal Zucchini are like Guided By Voices in that they're from Ohio and they sing with British accents. They also play a derivative of the same mid-1960s Beatles stuff (but much cleaner than GBV's version) with songs about sunlight and happiness instead of songs about being a forty-year-old heavy drinker who lives alone." Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Mike O'Moore and John Faxon (formerly of One Brown Shoe) began recording music together in 1999. With the help of Heyoka-I, they recorded several tracks that proved to be "the sound" they were striving to achieve with One Brown Shoe. Thus, Illegal Zucchini was born!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
The "Green Machine" has completed their follow-up CD, "The Legend of Johnny Stagger". "Bood Sisters: Vamps 2" is wrapped and Johnny Stagger and Barry Moermond are cast in the flick! Woo Hoo!
Your musical influences
We have always appreciated the genius of The Beatles, with snippets of The Byrds, Tom Petty, The Doors, and too many other influential artists to mention.
What equipment do you use?
Nothing fancy. Just class.
Anything else?
Decriminalize Zucchini! No Zucchini shall go uncounted! Tune in, turn on, eat your veggies. Zucchini IZ Grimace! Incidentally, Illegal Zucchini is contributing a track to the upcoming movie, "Planet of the Erotic Apes"(Creative Productions).
