Hi, my name is Ibraim Soltonbaev and this is my electronic music project 'Fluorspar'.
I was born in a small Central Asian country called Kyrgyz Republic, them moved to United States. I attended high school and college in Lincoln Nebraska, then moved to NYC.
I am not a newbie in the world of music. I have a music education with a bachelor degree in music performance and theory. I share my love for music between live performances with improvisations and prerecorded mixed and mastered produced electronic music.Band/artist history
It all started back in the mid 90's when I started attending piano lessons in my home country. I studied classical giants such as Chopin and Bach and in parallel I was exposed to European electronic music in the likes of Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Massive Attack.
I played piano and recorded tunes from radio onto the cassette tape.Have you performed in front of an audience? After graduating CUNY's Hunter College with a music background I regularly played in venues in New York city, mostly collaborating with bands and performing jazz standards and my own tunes.
Your musical influences
SInce this is electronic music project, I will be talking mainly about electronic music. So apart from the legends of the 90's such as Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, LTJ Bukem, The Orb and many more, I have been a long fan of Ninja Tune records. I've been listening to Bonobo, Cinematic Orchestra, Jaga Jazzist, Herbalizer, Coldcut and others. I've been fan of BBC Essential Mix shows for a while and learned a lot about different artists. Flying Lotus, Burial, DJ Cam, Shpongle, Brian Eno and more. What equipment do you use?
I have a Novation SL MK II controller that I use to control Ableton. I also have Korg Drumpad and a smaller Alesis 49 keyboard controller. I use my ears to produce entirely in Ableton Live.Anything else?
I'm glad to be a part of the global community of musicians and artists and I'm here to contribute what I can to the amazing universe of art.New Age - Jazz
