Band/artist history
HYBRID H Hybrid H officially formed in late 2000. The name was derived from the diverse differences in the backgrounds and cultures between the two members, and the way that their styles worked so well together. The "H" stands for the first letter in both of their last names. After the 2002 release of their debut LP Out of Hybrination, the group will be releasing their first 12 single, 2 Yutes, and has been recording new material for their second LP Face the Music. Songs from that upcoming LP can be heard in the media section of this website. In addition to recording Hybrid H has been performing in New York, New Jersey, and in numerous states in the northeast. Performances include opening for major recording artists such as Erick Sermon, Keith Murray, and G-Dep. The group was also invited to perform during Legends Night in Harlem, NYC. This was an event hosted by hip-hop pioneers Kurtis Blow and Melle Mel. In the spring of 2003 Herbalist partnered up with Rhode Island producer and emcee 8th Wundah to open Infinite Impact llc, a full featured digital recording studio in Pawtucket, RI. Since then Hybrid H has basically lived at the studio working on new material and collaborations for future projects. So keep checking the media section for new music, and keep up with our shows and performances on the events page. To purchase Hybrid H merchandise please visit our online store. MOE MENTUM Moses "Moe Mentum" Hernandez was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. After ten rough years in the Bronx and two in Manhattan, his family decided to move out to New Jersey. It was there where Moses discovered his gift with words and at the age of 16 developed his unique style. However, he gave up rapping his senior year of high school to focus on getting into college. In September of 1999 he went off to attend college at Johnson & Wales University, where he met Jesse "The Herbalist" Hershkowitz due to random room assignments. One night after a freestyle cipher at a college party, someone suggested that the two form a group. Their reply...... "Why Not!" THE HERBALIST Jesse Hershkowitz was born in Brooklyn, NY and later resided in Washington, D.C. At the age of four his family moved to Westfield, NJ, where over the next 14 years, the environment that surrounded him, combined with his experiences growing up in "Dirty Jerz" helped mold him into "The Herbalist". The Herbalist began to write original lyrics at the age of 15. Though nothing audible was produced until almost three years later, his time was spent perfecting his style, writing technique, and freestyle capabilities. At the age of 18 he was on the move again, but this time it was on his own, to Providence, RI. Upon reaching Providence Jesse met Moses Hernandez aka Moe Mentum, another lyricist from Jersey whose style was on the same page.
