Welcome to the Houston Lee music page! I am a singer/songwriter in the Seattle, Washington area. My music is typically characterized as pop or a cross between country and pop. Hope you enjoy what you hear. I am always adding new songs so keep listening and coming back, and please rate my songs! Also, I'm always interested to hear feedback so feel free, unless it's bad! LOL! Nah, rip me apart. I've heard it all and I can take it.
Thanks,
Houston LeeHave you performed in front of an audience?OK, I had to change this. I am putting together a band to play my stuff and some covers. Should be fun as long as we are selective about the venues we choose. I keep you posted with upcoming dates.
Your musical influences
The Eagles, Styx, Toto, Night Ranger, Huey Lewis, and about every other band that fits in that category. People say I sound like Richard Marx. I don't know if I like that or not, but he did have some great songs. If you look at the liner notes on his biggest cd, you can see why. The guest appearances on the record read like a veritable who's who in music. I like some of the music coming out now, but nobody is writing songs that will be considered "classics" like "Hotel California" or "Stairway to heaven". Though I'm not much of a Led Zepplin fan. Most of the music coimng out now seems to be written for the purpose of making money and not for the sake of the craft. My kids are so starved for good music that they mostly listen to the same bands I listened to when I was a teenager. That's good for me because I have kind of an 80's retro sound. I believe the sound of the 70's and 80's will come back. It has to, there is no real music, just marketing. Most pop music seems to be aimed at the 13 year old girl demographic. What equipment do you use?
Sonar 6 Producer, Waves plugins, MOTU 896, Chameleon Labs Preamp, Avalon 737, Joe Meek preamp/compressor, Chameleon Labs TS-1 and TS-2 tube mics, Blue Baby Bottle, SM 57, Rode NT1A, Aphex Compellor, NI Kontakt 2, POD 2.0, Event SP8 monitors,P IV 3.0 with SATA drives and 2 Gigs of RAM, several guitars and basses.Anything else?
If you haven't tried any of the Chameleon Labs gear, you need to. It's very affordable and top notch quality. I bought the Avalon so I would have a top notch, pro quality preamp. But for vocals, the 7602 sounds fantastic! The Avalon is great for anything that you want to stand out in a mix. It also sounds beautiful on acoustic guitar. The thing is, once you start to figure out how to get a good overall sound you can get a good sound with just about any gear. It really is more about the ability than the equipment. As you listen to my songs, the best sounding ones are the more recent recordings. See if you can figure out which is which.Contact

Lullabye.... sweet sweet! song. Ahhhh for your voice. Best to ya.
Darren sounds more country than Barney. Heck, anything sounds more country than Barney! :) Your work "IN THE DISTANCE" is one great listen. Richard Marx? Yeah, I heard it in there with some serious attitude. Thanks, my brother with a different mother..........
