the long overdue introduction of the kid Yella has been long overdue! Born Christopher Torregano in Chattanooga, TN, this 23 year old MC is as tenacious as a loose pitbull! Since age 5, Hi Yella has been blessing microphones across the southern region! At 14, while attending Atl's North Atlanta High School, Yella witnessed freestyle battles in the hallways and cafeteria of the school! Runnin with "Raw Deal Records" at school, would later spark a flame inside of this already passionate young rapper/ singer/ songwriter/ actor and upcoming producer, that made him strive harder than ever to fulfill his dreams of ruling the limelight in the music industry! Landing opening acts for the like of artist such as, D4L, Dem Franchise Boys, Bone Crusher, Trick Daddy, and performing on the same stages as Yung Joc, Yola Da Great & newly signed Shonuff & Capitol Records artist Willie Joe, Yella has developed more than enough stage presence to rock the crowd mixing in street savvy with a smooth touch of R&G!Stay tuned world, Hi Yella will be coming to a speaker near you sooner than u think!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Its jus me, I have been at this for almost 10 years, my time has been long, long overdue!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I dont play any live instruments but im very quick to sing or freestyle acapella at any given time! I love being on stage, it gives me a feeling of empowerment over the crowd, especially when they get into it! Anytime i perform its a special moment, to this day I still get pre-show butterflies, even with 30+ shows under my belt it never fails! that lets me know that i'm still very passionate about my craft!
Your musical influences
My mother was a club singer for 8 years, so of course my mother & I grew up listening to , OutKast, Jay-Z, Anita Baker, Bill Withers, Jodeci, Aaliyah, Cash Money, Etta James, Snoop, Wu-Tang, Biggie, Pac, R. Kelly......and the list goes on and on!
What equipment do you use?
Me and a Microphone.............nah for real, we track on Reason, and Fruity Loops using a Korg Triton, Roland Fantom, MPC 1000, Mac G5, MXL 65 mic and thats all i can remember right off the back.....but we're stacked!
