HipGnosis has been producing electronic music for almost 7 years under the name siriusrising, venturing into the world of hip hop within the last 2. Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
i played a series of shows in the summer of 2007 with live rappers over prerecorded and sometimes live beats. it was amazing and nerve-wracking at the same time. i loved it.
Your musical influences
my musical influences range from plastikman, neuropolitique, autechre, and coil to the music of Prefuse 73 and others on the Warp and M3rck labels. my music sometimes tries to recreate a "peak experience" and sounds as if one is on drugs.
What equipment do you use?
Everything is 100% digital. I particularly enjoy the crisp sound that digital sound has, and i get off on "digital trash," or the remnants of cutting, clipping, etc. that comes along with doing digital work.
