Headshear Loser Face Headshear Loser Face
This was written after Headshear had paired down to a quartet with just Deirdre and I on guitar. Hudson Bunce plays drums on this track. It's kind of a cross between the Police and our King Crimson influences.

Complex Nothing Complex Nothing
A good example of how we've merged our Cocteau Twins and King Crimson influences together.

Mechanically Separated Chicken PT I Mechanically Separated Chicken PT I
A hard rockin short tune about chicken.

Urban Conversation Urban Conversation
Funky, jazzy, groove that explodes into polyrhythmic madness...actually even though we are all practically playing in a different time signature the syncopation feels like it grooves in 4/4. Well that's my opinion.

Band/artist history
Headshear goes back about ten years to when I started playing with Deirdre Lynds. She is an incredible guitar player/composer and on top of that we just have a certain chemistry. I've played with a lot of other guitarists and always found it difficult to blend styles and have similar instincts.
Knowing that we wanted to play challenging instrumental music that is more akin to classical chamber music than say jazz fusion, with endless turns soloing ad nauseum, we perservered for 8 years looking for the right musicians. Lo and behold, our wonderful bassplayer, Van Spragins, showed up underneath my very nose. He's been with us for a little over 3 years.
Headshear started gigging in late 2001, making our debut at the Progressive Projections festival in San Francisco. From that point until March 2004, Matthew Guggemos was our esteemed kit player. We've also had the good fortune of having Igor Abuladze and Wally Scharold fill the role of our 3rd guitarist.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
Yes, although, currently we are looking to replace a drummer and third guitarist so we can continue gigging in the SF Bay Area.
Your musical influences
80's King Crimson, David Sylvian, Pink Floyd, Andy Summeers, classic progressive rock bands, old school funk, 20th century classical, Cocteau Twins, Zeppelin, etc..

So nice! Great stuff - just added a track to my Soundclick station. Looking forward to more. Please post a note if you play in LA.
Saw you guys play Brainwash last friday....You are the best band I have seen in years!!! Keep on playing. CAN'T wait to pick up your CD....
Complex Nothing is a beautiful piece...sigh....
Just found these guys. Really great stuff ! Kinda K.C. meets Primus meets Cage meets Godzilla. I love Prog that kind of slaps you around a bit. Gunna have to keep an eye out for these guys.
Lynds is a musical genius. Her guitar work is sensitive, revolutionary and obviously not of this world. It's best understood after the infusing of the most potent Owsley then sitting at the bottom of a pool in a lawn chair while wearing a thought bra. Then beware the black ink.
Happy 4/20... keep it up!
