Thrash Metal From The Heart Of South AmericaBand/artist history
HATE was born at the beggining of 1993, in La Paz Bolivia (South America), the group was founded by Ricardo Larrazabal (guitar), who invites a drummer and Vladimir Mendieta to play bass and sing, with this line up the band starts to play live all 1993 and by June 1994 they recorded they first demo called "Sociedad Sin Vida", this demo doesn't had a defined musical style yet; it had a mix of heavy metal , punk and thrash. by 1995 after several drummer changes Milton Morales fill the drummer seat completing the line up.
Milton is presented as the official HATE drummer in November 1994. they quickly began composing and recording 8 new songs that became by February 1995 their second demo: "XXI Century", the first 6 months of 1995 HATE does not made so many live presentations, then the band made a hiatus of 6 months and then returned by February 1996, the gathered again and started pre-production of the first album due any time on 1998.
1996 was so productive to the band because of the invitation to participate in both of the most important rock festivals in bolivia. the first was Explorock 96' where the 10 best rock bands at that time in La Paz played, the other one was the fist underground music festival called "Raza". By october of 1996 HATE wons the first place in a contest with more than 36 bands in La Paz and Milton Morales was chosen the best drummer of the contest.
From December 1996 to February 1997 HATE started pre-production of their first album, they started to record in Proton Studios on February 2nd. and the recording process lasts till June, then the mixing process was made during July. that year HATE played few but important dates in the rest of Bolivia; they began to promote the first album by 1998 and then the video clip of the song "Addiction" was made.
The band self-produced and made totally indenpendent this first album, with no help of a bolivian or any record company, this will delayed the distribution and need more work to do, but the intention is to mantain the sound and integrity of the band.
By the beginning of 1998 HATE won another contest: "X-Prerock", they played in the hard rock category because the contest doesn't had a metal category. on March 2nd. " heart beat machine " was released and by the end of March in a rock bar the album is presented to the media. the promotion was made playing in little pubs and in open concerts too.
On april HATE was invited to another contest called "April Fest", this contest was on Equinoccio Live Bar, HATE played with all the hip and famous bands at that time in la paz, the band won again, making a statement that all the prices and contests won by the band were made by quality and effort not by luck. On August 7th. on a sold out theatre in La Paz they officially presented the album to the fans.
During 1998 - 1999 they promoted with huge success in several cities of bolivia and by February 1999 they recorded a live album, Ricardo zelaya was the executive producer of that recording. this live recording had 8 songs of "Heart Beat Machine" and a cover of the bolivian band Loukass (Hombre Lobo). The record release was limited by the very few number of copies, this will transform this record to a collectors item.
By February 2000 the band recorded their second album called "Anagramas", this new album was more melodic oriented but with the force that this power trio mades, the lyrics also had a substantial change beacuse all of them were sang in spanish, only one song had lyrics in english. The last dates of the heart beat machine tour were made playing with Rata Blanca in front of 6,000 people in La Paz.
The first 3 months of 2001 were used to prepared the release of "Anagramas", meantime the band played with the Swedish band Hammerfall and the Argetinian punk band Attaque 77, the new record was released on May 14 in La Paz, on october the band was invited to present the album in the International Culture Festival of Potosi.
All the new album "Anagramas" promotion was suspended because of an accident that suffered Ricardo Larrazabal, he had a surgical operation by December 2001 and the recovery lasts till June 2002, when the band returns playing with the spanish band Tierra Santa.
The promotion of "Anagramas" ends on December of that year and the rehearsals an pre-production of the new record "Republica de Odio" begans, in this new album HATE sound more agressive and less melodic that the prior record, this third record will be released by the end of April 2003.
Around November 2003, Milton decides to leave the band and HATE start the search for a new drummer, after a couple of weeks of auditions, Christian Paredes became the new drummer of HATE.
The band starts rehearsals ride away because there are confirmed dates in La Paz and Cochabamba, the show in La Paz gathers more than 400 people in Equinoccio Live Bar, now the band sounds more tight, more aggresive and the people really dig the new sound and the new drummer.
