HARMONY HILL is an “acoustic vocal Christian music” group, composed of three members. Members alternate between lead and harmony vocals and a variety of acoustic musical instruments, including 6 and 12 string guitars, acoustic bass guitar, mandolin, harmonicas, alto sax, flute and melodica. They bring an exciting and unique presentation of the gospel message in concerts in Arkansas and surrounding states that are well received by all age groups in a variety of settings, from churches to festivals, restaurants, youth groups, retirement centers, etc.Band/artist history
Harmony Hill was formed in 1991. While working with developmentally disabled adults, Randy Sanders and Michael Torres met and found that they shared a passion for music and ministry. Needing a third vocal part to achieve their desired sound, Douglas Harrald was recruited. All three members have extensive backgrounds in the music field. Randy and Douglas are involved as music leaders in their local churches. And Michael was recording music in Los Angeles at the same time and in the same studio as the Mamas and Papas when they were recording some of their hits in the 60’s. Robert Kelsey is the newest addition, as the group’s sound engineer. Robert has formal training in this area, and devotes his expertise to ensuring the mix is “just right” and the overall volume levels ensure that the lyrics rise above the variety of instrumentation.Have you performed in front of an audience? We play at churches, festivals, restaurants, parties, prison services and any other place that God leads us. We will play with a full stage of equipment in front of a crowded church down to totally acoustic in front of 20 men and women in a nursing home.
Your musical influences
Although the original repertoire consisted entirely of songs written by Randy, it now includes material written by Michael and Douglas and several popular songs. Their ministry reaches out to both church members and non-members. Realizing that their own sound closely resembles the secular music of the 60’s and 70’s, they have incorporated several popular secular songs from that era. Harmony Hill selects songs with positive messages, at times rewriting lyrics to ensure that the gospel message is conveyed.Anything else?
